59 projects will use sensors and drones to reduce accidents.
The Department of Transportation announced this week that 59 projects that install “Smart” technology at accident-prone traffic areas will be awarded $94.8 million. These projects will explore a number of potential solutions, including drones, additional sensors, an app for visually impaired pedestrians, and installing artificial intelligence into existing traffic cameras to better predict potential accidents.
“Every major advancement in the history of U.S. transportation has involved technological progress,” said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “The investments we are making today are about fostering innovations that improve people’s day-to-day lives, making transportation safer, more reliable, more efficient, and more sustainable.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For discernment for Secretary Buttigieg as he heads the Transportation Department.
- For U.S. transportation officials as they support the implementation of AI into traffic safety.
